Why Outlander’s Sam Heughan Says He Felt Betrayed by the Present

Sam Heughan is talking his thoughts.

The 42-year-old actor, who has performed Jamie Fraser on all six seasons of the Starz historic drama Outlander, stated the present’s inventive workforce managed to “betray his belief” through the present’s first season. 

In his new memoir Waypoints: My Scottish Journey, Heughan referenced a very brutal scene between his character and Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies) within the season one finale, by which Jamie is sexually assaulted by Black Jack. Heughan stated he did not suppose it was obligatory for his character to strip bare for the scene.

“This wasn’t a second the place I felt that being bare would add to the horror of what Jamie undergoes in that citadel dungeon as a type of punishment, subjugation, and humiliation,” Heughan wrote, in line with Insider. “I pushed again, reasoning that nudity sexualized a horrific expertise for my character, and it sparked fairly a debate.” 

The Outlander workforce was keen to pay attention, as Heughan wrote, “Artistic conversations are a characteristic of all productions, good artwork is made by questioning the reality and all of us need to get it proper.”
